I have not yet revised the audio recordings for this new edition of my lecture notes. I hope to do that before Jesus returns!

The Bible is about Jesus.

Of course, there is more in the Bible than Christology. Christocentric views of interpretation often make the mistake of going too far. The Bible contains a lot of history, but it does not give us an exhaustive history of Israel, Judaism, Christianity, or even the life and public ministry of Jesus! The Bible tells us its stories in a variety of literary styles, but it is not just a literary book. It is a rich treasure of so many wonderful things, but in the final analysis, the point the Bible is trying to make is about Jesus and how we can know him.

This is why I say to my students that the Bible is about relationships — specifically, it is about how we (i.e. all humans) can be restored to a relationship with God. The promise of Genesis 3:15 is fulfilled in Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ.

Yes, I agree — the Bible tells us so much about ancient Israel, the ancient world, and other things that cause us all to debate its purpose. If you will take the time to work through my Bible study materials, I hope you will see my sincere desire to give a balanced view of biblical interpretation. I try to answer the question, "Why are we being told what we are being told?"

I am a Christian and I am a Baptist. It will not surprise anyone to see that my views come from a Christian worldview. I do not believe everything that every professing Christian believes — and I do not believe everything that every Baptist believes. I hope you will see that I try very hard to think for myself as I continue my journey in knowing God and understanding His will, His work, and His word.
